A Red Cross Rally is scheduled tonight at So o clock sharp in the Red Cross room of the Chicot Hotel. Two of the region’s best four minute speakers will present brief talks. All patriotic men women and children in Dermott and nearby areas are urged to attend. County Chairman of Christmas Drive.
Rev R M Holland and family relocate to Portland after transfer by the Methodist conference with Parkdale assignment. Successor SC Dean, previously Hangburg pastor, expected to arrive and preach next Sunday at the Methodist church. Conference also reshuffles several positions including Texarkana district leadership and Asbury church assignments.
Red Cross Sunday kicks off a December drive urging every household to join with a one dollar membership for the year. A county campaign chair, WD Trotter, leads events at the Chicot Hotel and a Presbyterian church service featuring R B McBride of Emporia Kansas. The effort emphasizes aid for soldiers and the global afflicted as the county vies to top state participation.

Oavar Tullas who led the public school building for two years died last Sunday morning after a week of influenza. He was about 21, leaves a wife and infant both ill with the same disease. His body was taken to Hamburg on Monday for burial.
To the Public the Rev leaves Dermott with thanks for kindness and cooperation with local churches. He says he will labor in Portland next year and introduces his successor Rev SC Dean as a capable, active preacher who will continue the church’s work without interruption.
