The Dermott and Eudora Baptist Churches lose Rev F C Sims a beloved pastor after a sudden illness. He had been active in community life and his death Saturday leaves his wife three children and extended kin recovering from influenza. The town extends sympathy as obituary and resolutions await publication next week.

After weeks of effort Dermott's War Savings Stamps quota reached 205000 in the town with 75000 pledged and 200 in pledges from last June unredeemed. The campaign urged unrewarded donors to fulfill their commitments as the drive proved the toughest in the district.
An attempted whiskey smuggling bid to move liquor from Monroe to Little Rock failed Tuesday. Train No 106 halted for water at Hudspeth, then to Dermott for a light run to the tank. Investigators found thirteen cases of whiskey concealed inside the engine water tank.

McGehee's Dramatic Company presented the stirring war drama Some Where in Prat before a large enthusiastic Dermott audience on Thanksgiving evening. Directed by Mrs J B Erwin the production earned praise for its staging and strong performances. Mrs. L M Wisner died at her Dermott home on December 2 after a three year illness. She left three daughters and two sons. A devoted church worker, she is remembered as a faithful presence on earth, now leaving a vacancy to be filled by those who follow her example.
