Dermott school dominated the second annual Chicot county contest at Lake Village despite heavy rain. The team led in general standings, with top positions in spelling reading and athletics, and set a new Dermott record. Invitational attendees included Superintendent Anders and local officials, while plans shift to support the Third Liberty Loan drive.
White Sunday schools of Dermott assemble at Dermott corner Hotel at 50 next Sunday morning to form a parade to the Preatytenan church for addresses and music. Superintendents will marshal the march and reports are heard at each church beforehand.
The program lists a devotional service and consecration meeting with a Bible reading from Psalm 119. Special music includes Fanny Offutt and Henry Duerson. Readings emphasize the benefits and promises of Bible study and mute reading. Mrs Hutchison presents a reading on the Bible's own promises for reading, followed by a benediction.

The cemetery committee will pause the annual Clean-up Day for now. To fund grave maintenance, the committee requests free will offerings from those involved, especially from owners with lots to be cared for. Mrs. E. P. Remley, Chairman Cemetery Committee.
T H Biggs seeks re election as constable of Bowie township after serving one term and collecting more fines than any county constable. He also serves a second term as deputy sheriff and asks voters to consider his claims.
