Brethren Sunday School Holds West Denver Picnic

On Sept 6 Brethren Sunday School Beginners Primary and Star classes held a picnic on the lawn of Mr and Mrs Charles Ege in West Denver. Twenty children and teachers attended enjoyed a noon dinner prepared by the teachers and an afternoon of games before leaving at four o clock.

Lumber and brick arrive for Farmers Bank building

Work resumes on the Farmers Bank project as lumber and brick arrive in time. Carpenters began laying floors Friday. contractor Noah Arnest says delivery certainty will keep the project moving to finish before winter and allow the bank to move in.

Raver and Tracy wed in Mexico at Rev. Fisher home

Clarence Raver and Miss Levoski Tracy married quietly last Wednesday at the home of Rev. Irvin Fisher in Mexico with only witnesses present. The couple plans to live on a farm owned by the groom's father west of Denver and is praised for their good character and potential.

Open Inspection Meeting for Jefferson Township Schools

A meeting of eastern Jefferson Township teachers is set for 1 30 P M next Friday at the Denver school house to arrange the coming year's work. The building will be open to the public for inspection as the trustee showcases summer improvements and pupil care plans.

Denver Baptist Missionary Society elects officers

The Denver Baptist Missionary Society met on September 7 at the church and elected officers for the coming year. President Chloe Golden and Vice President Lizzie Murphy lead the slate with Bertha Bell as secretary Myrtle Armantrout as treasurer and Rev Melton heading the program committee. Assistants include Flower Committee Lizzie Tharp Place Committee Flora Benedict Lizzie Tharp and Reporter Ern Zook.

Jefferson township to open schools for 1916 17 term

Schools in Jefferson township and all rural and small town schools in Miami County will open on Monday September 18 for the 1916 17 term. Peru schools opened last Monday but township trustees decided to begin the rural schools one week later.

Jolly Party Enjoys Webster Lake Outing

A Miami and Grant County group spent last week at Shady Nook cottage on Webster Lake. The party included J C Kunkle and W S Burke of Peru. Ballenger family of Marion. Mohler of Deedsville. Murphy of Kokomo. plus Fuller and Patton of Peru and others. About eight hundred fish were caught, bathing good, scenery fine, and weather ideal.

Hurt in upset on Mex ico hill injures Hal Maus

Hal Maus of three miles west of Denver escaped death after his Ford overturned in a ditch following a collision with a wagon on a hill north of Mexico. He suffered a severe leg cut and head and body bruises and was treated at home by a doctor. The crash sparked a dispute over fault between Maus and the wagon driver.

Keim-Derck Reunion Brings 350 Members Together

Keim-Derck families held their thirteenth annual reunion at Chili Grove on Sunday with 350 attendees. Activities included visiting and handshakes in the morning, a noon chicken dinner, and a 2 PM program. Officers elected for the coming year are President Joseph Keim Peru, vice-president William Keim Rochester, secretary-treasurer Mrs Gideon Hostetler Chili, and chaplain Mrs Rebecca Keim Chili.

Mr and Mrs J E Cunningham from Southern Texas arrived in Denver on Sunday and stayed at a hotel until Wednesday as guests of J H Cunningham and family, the latter’s brother, with pleasant entertainment during their stay.

Church Rally Begins Across Districts This Month

The Fall Sub district Methodist Church Rally starts next Sunday at Gilead and moves to Macy Denver and Chili on the 24th and 27th. In Denver the program features Rev. E H Kennedy on missionary activity, Rev A R Carson on Sunday School emphasis, Rev B M Bechdell on Tithing, and Rev L G Jacobs presenting a stereopticon lecture with music interludes. The charge aims to lead attendance and invites the public to attend and boost for the charge.
