On Sept 6 Brethren Sunday School Beginners Primary and Star classes held a picnic on the lawn of Mr and Mrs Charles Ege in West Denver. Twenty children and teachers attended enjoyed a noon dinner prepared by the teachers and an afternoon of games before leaving at four o clock.

Schools in Jefferson township and all rural and small town schools in Miami County will open on Monday September 18 for the 1916 17 term. Peru schools opened last Monday but township trustees decided to begin the rural schools one week later.

Hurt in upset on Mex ico hill injures Hal Maus
Hal Maus of three miles west of Denver escaped death after his Ford overturned in a ditch following a collision with a wagon on a hill north of Mexico. He suffered a severe leg cut and head and body bruises and was treated at home by a doctor. The crash sparked a dispute over fault between Maus and the wagon driver.
