Mrs. Elmer E. Conner of the area one mile northeast of Mexico suffered severe burns Monday while canning peaches when a sealed can exploded. The contents sprayed her face and eyes. a doctor was called and her eyesight is not believed to be permanently affected.
The Woolleytown circular notes the threshing ring starting silos on September 4 with workers at Will Wests Uly Longs and others filling silos. It mentions Abner Earhart driving to Pike Street, Teddy Thompson laying silo tops, Buck Runkle’s engine incident and rescue by singing, plus visits from Rochester and Denver residents, soap making, and Ford shopping in Peru with humorous local anecdotes.
The S D A Camp Meeting at Brookside Park Indianapolis ran Aug 24 to Sept 3 with about 1500 on grounds and 150 tents plus pavilion seating 1000. Meetings ran 6 am to 9 pm daily with sermons, children's programs, and tents for groceries and dining. Offerings totaling 1300 on Sabbaths and 1700 for foreign missions were raised. J H Charles reports on gospel talks and overseas missions.
Last Wednesday night robbers blew open a small safe in the office room of O Gandy & Co elevators. They used nitro glycerine to blast through the door and left a gold ring belonging to Mr Kline as the sole apparent item taken. No suspects located by morning.
Music for the Millinery Opening at Mrs Lulu Gustin’s store will be supplied by an Edison Diamond Disc from John Miller’s Cycle Exchange of Peyu.
The S. B. C. E. of the Brethren church will hold a regualr devotional and business meeting next Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. All members are urged to attend at the church.
An auto party from United Brethren Church in Peru visited R. S. Teague's home south of Denver last Sunday. The Busy Gleaners Class led by Mrs. W. E. Kline attended with many members and guests enjoying a lawn picnic, river boat rides, and photos.
Next Sunday the Fall Sub-district Methodist Church Rally Conventions start at Gilead then Macy Denver on the 24th and Chili on the 27th. Denver program includes talks on missionary activity growth and Sunday School emphasis plus tithing and a stereopticon lecture with music as interludes. Public urged to attend and boost the charge.
Mrs. E S Kline, ill for a week, grew much worse Monday. After consultation by Dr E B Waymire and Dr Newell, an immediate operation at Miami County Hospital was performed. The serious surgery, her second this summer, left her resting easily with hopes for full recovery.
The Denver Baptist Missionary Society will meet at the Baptist church at 2 p.m. Thursday September 7 for the annual election of officers. Members urged to attend. Ghioe Golden, President.
Next Sunday Bible School at 9 30 a m. Choir practice Friday evening. A hearty welcome awaits all who can attend any or all of these services. L A Myers Pastor.

The church holds Sunday School at 9 30 a m. morning sermon at 10 45 a m. and 7 30 p m. The morning topic is Letting Our Light Shine and the evening topic is Excuses. B Y P U meets at 6 30 p m with a prayer meeting Wednesday at 7 30 p m. All are welcome to attend.
Mr and Mrs J W Ellis rent Denver apartments and depart Wednesday to spend the winter in Peru. Ellis has improved but requires assistance to move about, so living in town with home deliveries is more convenient. Denver friends and the Tribune wish them a return next spring to make Denver home.
