Obituary for Jacob L Norris of Chili and Farmington

Jacob L Norris born October 20 1845 in Preble County Ohio died August 30 1921 in Chili Indiana aged 75 years 11 months 10 days He moved to Miami County Indiana at age five with his parents married Margret E Long July 24 1867 and had six children The two sons William J Harvey A and Jacob L Jr resided in Chili Farmington Ohio He joined the Methodist Episcopal Church at 23 and served as steward for fifteen years His wife died six years ago and he lived with his children the last year He was remembered as a loving husband and good citizen with many friends and grandchildren

Electric light franchise granted to local company

A new firm organized by A Cunningham, Lee Long and Elvin Long received a franchise to build an electric line to supply Denver with current. They plan to buy power from the Winona Interurban and expect completion before year's end as Winona now offers 24 hour service.

Andrew Friend Dies After Short Illness in West Denver

Andrew Friend died Saturday at his West Denver home after a brief pneumonia illness. He was over 78, a longtime Miami County resident born locally. Survived by his widow and seven children. Funeral services at Denver Methodist Church Monday at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Levin Fisher officiating with Rev. G F Golden assisting. Interment in Weasaw cemetery.

Birthday surprise for Mrs Simons delights guests

A birthday surprise was planned and carried out Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs John Simons in honor of Mrs Simons. A large gathering of friends and relatives attended the event creating a festive atmosphere.

Mayor confronts 69 parking violators in city court

At 9 o clock the mayor presided in court as 44 drivers including Rep Don M Coppock Dr John E Yarling and Marie Stuart Edwards faced enforcement of the motor vehicle law. The crowd heard that after Saturday no leniency would be shown to violators of parking and driving rules.

Missionary Society Elects Officers At Local Meeting

The Women's Baptist Missionary Society met at the church on September 1. After opening with song and scripture read by Mrs. Emmy Zook, officers for the coming year were elected. Fern Zook as Prec., Maggie Cunningham as Vice Pres., Anna Whisler as Secy., Alta Zook as Treas., Vivin Gallahan as pianist and chorister, Ray Bramble as reporter, and Magpie Sunningham as secretary. New Carrier Takes Route 2 Out of Denver

Alonzo Burns of Miami has secured the appointment as carrier on Route No. 2 out of Denver. He has already begun duties as carrier on September 1 and plans to move to Denver if he can secure a stable home.

Fay Harmon Weds Arnold Baldwin in Warsaw Area Ceremony

Early fall wedding held at the Harmon home near Wilson. Fay Harmon and Arnold Baldwin exchanged vows in a yard arch ceremony officiated by Rev. Lyons. Reception followed and couple departed for a short wedding trip before settling on the Baldwin farm near Denver.

Local baker to open lunch room in Denver

J. T. Simons, who recently sold his bakery here, prepares to open a lunch room in Denver. He has leased the Newell building west of the meat market and plans to start operations this week.

Local guests visit families over weekend in town

Mr and Mrs Roy Marley of Mass were guests of Dentatives over Sunday. Mrs Riseell Moon and children of Peru visited grandmother Mrs Caroline Black Wednesday afternoon and evening. Mr and Mrs Willard Howes and daughter Ruth of Logansport spent Sunday with the latter's mother Mrs Kuma Tharp. Ruth's last visit in Denver for some time.

Local families gather for visits and school start notices

Charles Bayless and family vacationed near Tipton with Mrs Bayless sister Mrs Charles Wright and family. Mrs Omer Yoder and daughter Hazel visited with brothers Joe and Fred Sunday at Wabash. Claude Yoder and family were supper guests of Omer Yoder last Monday. Maude Yoder stayed with Mary Flora near Chili. Perrysburg school began August 29 with Gale Morrett and Carrie Long teaching. Multiple visits linked to Tipton Perrysburg and Lake Manitou events. Epworth League Festival attendance noted.
