Laporte man visits Denver and joins gatherings

G A Martindale of Laporte stays with relatives in Denver this week and attended the Martindale Downey Reunion at Peru and the Old Settlers Picnic at Chili. He recently returned from visiting his brother Rev W J Martindale in Wichita. He recalls subscribing to the Tribune from its first issue and to the old Denver Sun for its full run.

Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary for Mr and Mrs C M Long

On August 26 1915 Mr and Mrs Charles M Long marked their 60th wedding anniversary at home with most children and grandchildren present. Guests included Abner Griswold and David Fisher plus Mrs Long and Ina Fouts. the couple recalled their wedding and shared velvet cake with 60 on top. Souvenir cards featuring August 26 1855 1915 60th Anniversary were given to all.

Baker Charley Pollock Called Home After Son Dies

Charley Pollock of Goff's bakery was summoned to Cincinnati for his gravely ill son. He left immediately, but the boy died Thursday morning about an hour before the father arrived. Death was due to typhoid fever. Pollock will not return to Denver, with Bert Goff taking his bakery duties.

Labor Day at Peru Promises Vast Parade Activities

The Central Labor Council of Peru reports a broad drive for a monster Labor Day celebration. Delegations from Wabash Huntington Kokomo Logansport and other cities are expected to attend. O Blenis Firm Plans Livery Barn to Garage Garage

O Blenis and Son will convert the livery barn into a first class garage and auto repair shop in Denver. Work starts next week after Mr O Blenis bought machinery for the new business. Robbins will move his livery stock to the Piper barn undergoing overhaul. A Milliron store room on Harrison street is leased for a horse shoeing shop while woodworking and painting remain at the present location.

Fall Term Begins At Logansport Business College

The opening week of the Fall Term at the Logansport Business College in Logansport Indiana runs from August 30 to September 9. Many new students will enroll with new sessions starting weekly thereafter. Stenographers remain scarce while good positions are plentiful, and a catalog is available by letter or phone. Miss Mable Burkholder has secured the position of assistant postmistress at the Denver office following the resignation of Miss Gayle Stowman. Little Forest Long, son of Mr and Mrs Cheston Long, was ill last Thursday and Thursday night. Mr and Mrs J W Krothwohl and Mr and Mrs M G Friend and son Perry, all of Peru, visited Mr and Mrs Andrew Friend Tuesday evening. William Leffel moved his family and goods from his farm north of Woolleytown to his residence in Woolleytown. Albert Leffel moved from the Colleysama property to the same area.
