G A Martindale of Laporte stays with relatives in Denver this week and attended the Martindale Downey Reunion at Peru and the Old Settlers Picnic at Chili. He recently returned from visiting his brother Rev W J Martindale in Wichita. He recalls subscribing to the Tribune from its first issue and to the old Denver Sun for its full run.
On August 26 1915 Mr and Mrs Charles M Long marked their 60th wedding anniversary at home with most children and grandchildren present. Guests included Abner Griswold and David Fisher plus Mrs Long and Ina Fouts. the couple recalled their wedding and shared velvet cake with 60 on top. Souvenir cards featuring August 26 1855 1915 60th Anniversary were given to all.
An advertisement touts affordable farm land from 20 to 50 dollars per acre with quality corn wheat and oats. It invites readers to inspect properties offered by A W Aman promising good yields of wheat and oats and enticing price points.
M Graff of Peru announces top prices for junk materials. Rags bring 50 cents per pound, rubber 4 cents, iron 20 to 80 cents per hundred pounds, hides 6 to 7 cents per pound. call for pickup or delivery.
Charley Pollock of Goff's bakery was summoned to Cincinnati for his gravely ill son. He left immediately, but the boy died Thursday morning about an hour before the father arrived. Death was due to typhoid fever. Pollock will not return to Denver, with Bert Goff taking his bakery duties.
Fragmentary OCR notes show a bar image caption or clipping about WasT Donk and his wife, returning with goods to a local address. The text is garbled but indicates a relocation or move back to a residence.
Church trustees proceed with exterior painting by B F Lee and rebuild of the church furnace after improvements by the Ladies Aid Society. The work aims to enhance overall appearance of the Meth odist Church.
Mr and Mrs J W Ellis have rented their Denver residence and will relocate to Peru for the coming winter. Ellis says Denver is fine but winter darkness and mud prompt the move. they expect to return in the spring.
Thomas A. Shively moved his family from North Manchester to Denver after spending the summer in Manchester Normal College. He prepared to assume the manual training duties in the Denver school district for the upcoming year.
A. Clark moves his family from Richland Township to the Ellis property in South Denver. He will oversee the Grammar room at the Denver school for the coming year.
The 6th annual Bell Family reunion is set for Sunday September 5 1915 in Peru Indiana City Park. Organizers urge all Bell relatives in the community to attend and extend the invitation broadly.
Auctioneer Rufus Kinzie lists sale details for Mexico residence No 17 Mexican Savings and Insurance store No 32. Community buyers are urged to inquire about livestock and farm goods at the auctioneering office.
The Carl Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus visits Peru on Tuesday September 7th with trained wild animals and more than 400 artists. The troupe offers a new European artist lineup, a daytime street parade at 10 a.m., and performances daily at 2 and 8 p.m. in six arenas.
The Central Labor Council of Peru reports a broad drive for a monster Labor Day celebration. Delegations from Wabash Huntington Kokomo Logansport and other cities are expected to attend. Bands free attractions and entertainment will serve the crowds. The OC&O and L.E.& W. railways will display unique transparencies and parade locomotives.
E. Stanton remodels his barn interior to house a five passenger automobile and to serve as a painting and varnishing workshop. He has not chosen the exact car yet.
Willard Kinley and family along with Charley Murphy and wife and son and Clint Murphy and family joined Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Cunningham and Mrs. John Murphy and Mrs. Derek for a pleasant Sunday gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Murphy.

Charity Circle hosts an ice cream and cake social in the church basement on Saturday evening September 4. Proceeds to aid piano fund. Everyone invited to attend.
Julius Falks store has been voted into the United Clothiers Association, organized by Benjamin R. Robey of Kobey Shoe and Clothing in Aspen, Colorado. The group aims to unite trusted merchants. over five hundred firms are members. Falks will buy standard brands at collective prices and offer competitive, nationwide pricing to Peru and surrounding areas, with fall ads and promotions forthcoming.
O Blenis and Son will convert the livery barn into a first class garage and auto repair shop in Denver. Work starts next week after Mr O Blenis bought machinery for the new business. Robbins will move his livery stock to the Piper barn undergoing overhaul. A Milliron store room on Harrison street is leased for a horse shoeing shop while woodworking and painting remain at the present location.
The opening week of the Fall Term at the Logansport Business College in Logansport Indiana runs from August 30 to September 9. Many new students will enroll with new sessions starting weekly thereafter. Stenographers remain scarce while good positions are plentiful, and a catalog is available by letter or phone. Students are enrolling for the new term.
S. C. E. will hold a regular devotional meeting on Thursday afternoon September 9 at two o'clock at the church. A full attendance is urged.
Miss Mable Burkholder has secured the position of assistant postmistress at the Denver office following the resignation of Miss Gayle Stowman. Little Forest Long, son of Mr and Mrs Cheston Long, was ill last Thursday and Thursday night. Mr and Mrs J W Krothwohl and Mr and Mrs M G Friend and son Perry, all of Peru, visited Mr and Mrs Andrew Friend Tuesday evening. William Leffel moved his family and goods from his farm north of Woolleytown to his residence in Woolleytown. Albert Leffel moved from the Colleysama property to the same area.

Conference news from Young America details 156 delegates, grand singing, and upcoming 1916 session. local visits and a large Chili Old Settlers Picnic draw about 15,000 attendees with 1,600 autos. speakers include Rev Jacobs and Congressman Henry Barnhart.
