The Indiana Baptist State Convention will meet next week in Fort Wayne. Several of our people should attend this great meeting if you possibly can arrange to attend. A series of church meetings will begin Monday evening October 20th at the Baptist Church. Wm. Melton, Pastor.
M. and Church announce Sunday School next Sunday at 9 30 AM. W W Sellers notes sept and all are cordially invited to attend these services. Alvin F White is the pastor.
The Brethren Church announces a Bible study session at 9 30 p m led by Sam Clingaman who serves as superintendent.
Dr. and Mrs. E. S. Waymire celebrated their seventh anniversary at their Washington street home with a family dinner Thursday October 2. Guests included Mrs. Catharine Waymire and Sherman and Charles Waymire of Deedsville and Mrs. W. H. McGrew of Peru. The afternoon featured a Courter visit with Mrs. Elijah Redman ahead of her Des Moines trip to visit daughter Mrs. Fred Wright and family.
Timothy Murden a well known Denver citizen died at his Hudson Indiana home after a long illness due to apoplexy He was nearly 85 and survived by a widow two sons and a daughter The funeral and burial were held at Hudson Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Charles Luckenbill remains critically ill after several weeks of illness and shows no improvement. Medical care continues to relieve suffering as Delia Leedy of Deedsville visits the bedside to assist nursing.
An automobile carrying John Sarver Ralph Harris and Wallace Reynolds collided with a horse driven by Glen Dewald north of Denver near Perrysburg. The horse died, the car and buggy were damaged, and Sarver suffered head injuries but is recovering. Harris and Reynolds were cut by glass. Dewald escaped injury.
Mr and Mrs Joseph Warren returned from an extended visit to Columbus and Athens Ohio after Mrs Warren suffered a stroke causing throat paralysis. She showed improvement after returning home and hopes for full recovery as relatives assist. Mrs Li Shadel and Mrs Ray Odaffer of Waggoners and Mr Odaffer helped care for her.
The Denver Merchants Band held its second concert drawing a large Saturday audience nearly matching last week. John Simons delivered a highly appreciated extra number. Next Saturday plans include another free concert with special numbers and more skilled players. the band now has eighteen instruments. Missing this rare treat if you stay away.
At the next Brethren Church business meeting on October 11, members are asked to attend to elect one Trustee. Nora C. Fouts, Clerk, notes the election and urges all members to be present.
A Seattle letter dated September 29, 1919 covers family news from A J Medsker at 409 North 42nd Street. It notes post office service issues, local markets with high prices, and labor tensions. It recounts President Wilson’s Seattle visit and the Pacific Fleet review aboard the Oregon and visits to Bremerton Dry Dock, plus ship details and community hospitality for sailors.
Mrs Bertha O Brian of Indianapolis extends invitation to old Denver friends to call on them in Seattle. They will gladly welcome visitors and wish success in business. Signed Almedia J. Medsker with respectful closing.
The Red Cross Lake Division warehouse at 2157 Euclid Ave will dispatch 250 packing cases of hospital supplies to Ohio Indiana and Kentucky hospitals this week. Supplies include 2 000 000 items such as pneumonia jackets absorbent pads gauze compresses bandages night gowns pajamas and baby clothes.
Roosevelt Memorial Executive committee advances Indiana campaign plans to meet October 20 27 to boost funds for a Roosevelt memorial. Party affiliation is irrelevant. John F Lawrence of Peru is Miami county chairman. School children are urged to participate in Roosevelt memorial and Americanization day events on October 24 as designated by the state board of education.
No hunting or trespassing allowed on any farms. Known trespassers will be prosecuted if found again, per stockdale and curtis stockdale.
All qualified voters in Denver Indiana are urged to attend a mass convention October 16 1919 at 8 00 p m at Endsley Blacksmith Shop rear of Dukes Hardware Store. The meeting aims to nominate one Trustee from each ward a town Clerk and a town Treasurer for the town. Election Inspector W T See urges civic duty.
The two band concert ran during the Ket row show and the comedy drama The Cowboy Swede held audience attention throughout. A seven piece band impressed patrons, and Ketrow promised Denver performances next year with a larger, better show.
Merritt Berkheiser from near Plymouth spent a few days in Denver with his sister Emma Berkheiser aunt Mrs John Fahl and mother Mrs Mary Berkheiser and family. He returned home Tuesday morning with his mother who will stay awhile. He shared a pleasant visit and renewed his Tribune subscription.
Mr and Mrs Jerry Anglemey and their son in law and family traveled through Denver Monday night while heading home near Roch ester after visiting their son and his family in Kokomo and Mrs Anglemeyer s sister Mrs Mary Smith and family in Walton She is in poor health and consulted Dr J W Newell and renewed her Tribune subscription while in town
