He describes aerial activity, German planes downed, and a parachuting observer in a treetop. He notes war pressure, price signals from hogs, and hopes for news as he signs off with family greetings.
Agricultural Advisors have been appointed to work with the District Draft Board to classify farm workers. John G. Brown of Monon leads the LaPorte Board effort to minimize disruption to food production. Township deferral committees will investigate each case and advise the District Board on proper classifications.
Arthur Guyer attended the funeral of his aunt Mrs. Frank Mayes at her son Arthur Mayes west of Bunker Hill Monday afternoon at 2 30 The deceased had moved to her son’s home to help care for his seriously ill wife who died recently The mother then fell ill with influenza and died last Saturday The son and his two children mourn two losses in three weeks James Ream drove Mr Guyer to the funeral Mrs W W Kirby of Denver sister Miss Mayes was unable to attend after an accident and injury at home
Miami County Apple Show and Agricultural Exhibit will be held in Liberty Hall Peru next week from November 1 to 16. Farmers and fruit raisers are urged to attend as fruit experts present daily lectures with no admission charge.
