It emphasizes inner goodness over outward cruelty and predicts that faces mirror inward character.
The writer reports a forty mile trip to Marion Grant County to visit Luther Woods and wife, describes Marion as a spread out manufacturing city on the Massissinews River, plus a street car ride to Gas City with a tin plate mill employing hundreds. They tour window glass, bottle, edge tool, and Canton glass works, noting fast work, shifts, and wages, then praise the Soldiers' Home and Charley Forgy in real estate.
The Woolleytown letter praises the Denver Trimunt and urges support as a new subscriber. It reports rain delaying spring planting, with farmers like William Landis Aly Long Aaron Zook and Aaron Balabaugh active on fields fences and creameries. The note lists local trades, including Brower selling calves and Deedsville creamery nearing completion, with Benjamin Hrower selling a driving horse and Charles Wilson as buyer.
Mrs Hannah Dewald widow of Uncle Sammy Dewald died at her home north of town on Tuesday morning after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the We Saw church conducted by Elder Joseph Brower as another pioneer is laid to rest.
Mrs. Hannah Dewald died May 4 1897 at her home one mile north of Denver from stomach trouble and old age. Born October 24 1816 in Schuylkill PA she was 40 years 6 months 10 days old. Her husband Samuel Dewald preceded her six years. They had 13 children nine boys four girls. five boys and three girls survive along with 50 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. Maiden name Hannah Heim. married Samuel Desvald in 1831 and lived 34 years. Early settlers near Denver lived among Harrison Grimes Reuben Charles George Brower Charles Lee Jacob Matthiay John Deibert and John Ream. They endured summers and hardships together. Jox L. In early May 1897 Samuel M Friend and Jessie P Fry wed at the bride’s home with relatives present. William Dell and Lola Sampsel also married at U B parsonage Macy. Friends extend best wishes. Pittsburg reported a 3 Million dollar fire May 3. A Peru Chronicle note commends local residents for improving town appearance with lawns and features.
Scott Guyer, raised in Denver, taught at Ora and pitched for Winona in a game against Ora. In the third inning Charles Haines was struck by a batted ball and died instantly, the 24 year old son of William Haines. Waites funeral held at Wle Creek church in Washington township. The incident has left Guyer devastated and his family in mourning.

Levi Karn of Deedsville in town en route to Peru for county superintendent candidacy. Dode Eckwan and wife of Loganyport traveled to Denver Tuesday evening for funeral of Mrs Eckman’s grandmother Hannah Dewald. Cole Shoemaker and family from Kokomo guests of N W Arnest Monday night on way home from funeral of Shoemaker’s mother Mrs Browneller at Olive Branch Sunday.
