The Miami County International Sunday School Association met at Macy M E church on Tuesday April 24 1900 with County President J C Fretz in charge. Eli Davis opened with devotion as Joseph Speicher spoke and O F Landis delivered a welcome. Miss Pearl Walter responded. Reports were encouraging and papers by Stella Hunter and George Demuth drew praise. Discussion on grading country Sunday Schools was lively and plans for practical methods were urged.
Emma Tharp reports on the I O O F and Rebekahs district meeting held in Peru on April 26. The event opened at 9:00 a.m. with remarks by Dist. D. G. Master H. F. Underwood. committees were listed and county lodge reports praised. Rebekah and Odd Fellows sessions followed with speeches, urging a permanent district organization. Next meeting set for Converse on Oct 31.
Last Saturday at nine o'clock a fire broke out in John Wright's house. The alarm drew the fire engine, volunteers, and townspeople quickly to the scene. The home was badly damaged though occupants escaped. the family is staying with Wright's parents while repairs proceed and the house is insured.
Notice urges immediate payment of money subscribed for the fire engine as bills are due and treasury funds are exhausted. Prompt attention requested by order of the Fire Trustees.
On Monday evening April 30 1900 at the bride’s home on West Harrison Street, Mrs Catherine A Ege and Mr Edward Miler, both of this place, were married by Rev J A Koontz in a very quiet ceremony attended by immediate relatives. They will reside here where the bride owns property. The Times extends congratulations and thanks for the wedding cake from the feast.
