National Monuments Added Hovenweep Palm Canyon
National Monument status was extended to Hovenweep along the Colorado Utah border and Palm Canyon in southern California. Hovenweep features Square Tower and Twin Towers ruins with extensive Pueblo architecture, while Palm Canyon preserves Washingtonian filifera palms amid canyons Andreas, Murray and Palm near Palm Springs. Purchase terms for Palm Canyon require Agua Caliente Indian consent and a funded purchase, with the land reserved for a federal monument.
