Fire destroys $100000 plant in Chicago area

A major blaze at the Standard Sash and Door Company plant at 6815 Center Avenue in Chicago caused extensive damage. Two men, Victor Altman and Joseph Brown, were arrested near the scene on suspicion of arson as explosions and a basement fire fueled by stored paint threatened nearby vehicles and homes. One man likely fatally injured and two more seriously hurt.

Bones of Old Hero Moved to Kingston for Final Interment

The body of George Clinton former major general in the Revolutionary army first governor of New York and former vice president was moved from Congressional Cemetery Washington to New York on its way to Kingston for final interment. Miser Farley Dies From Gas Asphyxiation in Indianapolis

Thomas Farley a pioneer saw manufacturer and longtime member of Masonic and Odd Fellows orders was found dead in his Indianapolis home from gas asphyxiation. The house reeked of gas from several burners. An old safe allegedly contained between 18000 and 60000 dollars with cash payments noted. Farley reportedly paid bills in cash and kept money in the safe.

Lamphere Indicted in Ganness House Fire and Murders

A grand jury investigating the Ganness house near Laporte Indiana returned three indictments. Lamphere faces arson for setting fire to Mrs. Ganness home on April 28.
