Nurse Injured as Hair Entangled in Electric Fan

Miss Grace Carroll of Indianapolis, a city hospital nurse, was injured when her hair became caught in an electric fan while attending Mrs. Samuel F. Updegraff. She warned her patient to stay calm as two nurses freed her, most of her hair being cut to release her head. In Jeffersonville, Miss Fattie Spangter died aged 70 in a house built in 1803 by her grandfather, a descendant of John Smith, with surviving relatives including Dr. Charles L. Spangler and Misses Eliza and Gertrude Spangler.

A wagon bearing Albert Sage and his grandson Lorence Pierce was struck by a northbound train on the Chicago Terre Haute and Southeastern Railroad near Heltonville. Sage was killed instantly and Pierce, age 14, was injured likely fatally. The train halted and both victims were brought to Terre Haute.
