A D Vore Dies in Miami At Age Seventy Two

A. D. Vore of Miami formerly Denver died Wednesday morning June 25 at 6 30. The funeral services were held at the home Friday at ten. He was about seventy two years old and is the father of Miss Sue Vore who works at the John S Hiaie Co Store in Peru.

Denver Band Tours North Miami and Fulton Counties

A Denver organized tour of about sixty five autos visited the north part of Miami and Fulton counties on Thursday to promote the Fourth of July celebration. The band played in Chili Roann Gilead Akron Thelma Rochester Macy Deedsville Perrysburg Twelve Mile Mexico and Peru to enthusiastic crowds. Cars were supplied by N. B. Hunt I. C. Brower the Denver Garage Millican and Piper Edgar Lewis John Cornell Foster Long W. A. Belt Earl Baker Dr Musselman C F Fite Jake Fouts Ira Eickenberry W. S. Carson Chas Simon and Lewis Gustin as the parade summoned their visit.

New Time Table for Winona Interurban Rail

The issue presents the Winona Interurban railway new time table with effect starting Sunday June 29. Morning and evening trains see little change while the night trains are altered.

The committee has secured Ramshorn Brown a noted preacher lecturer to speak at 2 00 p m and Hon Harvey Cole of Peru will deliver the forenoon address Final arrangements were completed at Friday’s meeting Stand and other privileges are sold and everything will be ready for a big day

Grand Parade and Summer Fair Schedule and Prizes

The event features a 9:00 parade with prizes for best decorated auto and other categories. Activities include musical acts, speaking, games, races, a balloon ascent, and a Denver baseball game versus Peru Merit. Prizes range from 25c to $2 with various entries open to all. Bring dinner for the grove picnic.

Afternoon program lists musical selections and speaking event at 1 30. At 2 00 p m speaking followed by amusements for girls and boys under 12 and free for all foot races plus fat man and 100 yard dash, hurdle race, greased pole climb and pie eating contest with prizes. Baseball game at 4:00 p m.

Home Coming Day With Pigeon Shoot And Band Concert

Evening on Public Square features a 7 30 program with home talent musical acts and a band concert. A pigeon shoot runs from 9 30 a m all day with prizes, inviting residents and visitors to come early and stay late for a town wide celebration.

Grand Parade Route and Float Prizes Described

The parade forms on the commons near the elevators and travels a clockwise route via Yorick Street to Harrison, Dawalt's corner, Washington Avenue, Dr Musselman’s residence, and Harrison Street before returning toward the grove. A float prize of 10 dollars is awarded for the best float and a second prize of 5 dollars.

An east bound C. and O. fast line passenger train derailed about two miles after Fulton, beyond Peru, injuring about twenty five passengers. The speed was about forty mph. no fatalities occurred. Heat is blamed for rails turning. Serious injuries were taken to Wabash hospital in Peru.

Boy Breaks Arm While Hunting Pigeons Near Peru

Benneth Andrews, son of Dr. O B Andrews of Peru, fell Thursday afternoon under a barn overhang. He broke both bones at the wrist of his right arm. He is visiting grandparents Mr and Mrs Merritt Murphy of Woolley town where the accident occurred. Dr Newell set the bones and he is recovering well.

Ninth Annual Summer School of Missions Held in Indiana

The ninth Annual Summer School of Missions for women of all denominations took place at Winona Indiana from June 19 to 27. Five Brethren Church women attended sessions last Thursday and shared information and inspiration from various missionary fields. Attendees included Mrs. Alice Maus, Mrs. Ida Eikenberry, Mrs. Blanch Gilbert, Mrs. Mary Flora, and Mrs. Anna Wood.
