Unlike a compass, it is free from magnetic influence and points to the true north-south line. Chessin, a Russian-educated scientist, has recently arrived in St. Louis to advance this discovery.

United States officers in Parkersburg West Virginia arrested 16 year old Oscar Berman on a mall order swindle charge. The grand jury indicted him after he mailed circulars purporting to be from the Yankee Novelty Company soliciting schoolchildren. He kept six cents from every dime and sent ten cents to obtain prize lists. Another scheme offered coins for 10 cents to win a prize list. The vast scope of his mail drew suspicion.
