Obituary of James H. Ward Pioneer Soldier and Family Man

James H. Ward of Franklin County Indiana born May 2, 1838 died February 1, 1902 aged 63 years 8 months 29 days Married Mary S. Newton September 24 1868 They had seven children five living at his death He joined the Methodist church at Gilead and was baptized by Rev J J Cooper At the Civil War he served as private and became Second Lieutenant with the First Minnesota Volunteers He died at his son in law Leroy Wildman home February 1 1902 Funeral at Ebenezer church four miles north of Denver on February 2 Interment nearby cemetery He was known as a good honest upright man

Death of W. Parks A Parker Resident

W. Parks a long-time resident of this place died Friday after a brief illness. Born in Ohio on June 4, 1830 he moved to Miami County before settling in Mexico. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A D Alexander at Mexico with interment near town.

Willard Howes Replaced on Rural Route by Uncle

Willard Howes did not start last Saturday morning as the mail carrier on the rural route. His resignation led to his uncle W. H. Howes, a local farmer north of town, being appointed in his place. Willard now works for L. C. Dukes in the hardware store and is noted for a pretty red wagon he used on the first trip.
