Conditions in Schools Shown by Miss Yoder

Edna A. Yoder county school nurse filed a three month report with the county superintendent and Red Cross showing 1,666 pupils examined with 1,064 defectives including teeth, vision, nose and throat, and hearing problems. 296 pupils had classroom checks for contagious diseases and 459 were over 25 percent underweight. A notable case involved a boy who had tonsils and adenoids removed after Miss Yoder advised transfer. upon return he achieved top grades, including a perfect score in one subject.

Ladies Aid Society entertained at Mrs Newell home

The M. E. Ladies Aid Society was delightfully entertained at the home of Mrs. J W Newell last Wednesday afternoon. An interesting program was given and all present enjoyed the afternoon. Mrs Newell's assistants were Mrs Foster Long, Mrs Rhoda Rhineberger, Mrs J T Donaldson and Mrs Alonzo Borns.

Big Supper Planned by Baptist and Brethren Societies

On Saturday evening January 13 1923 the Baptist and Brethren Missionary Societies will jointly host a supper at the Denver Baking Co Building starting 4 30 pm. J E Goff lent the venue while Methodist revival services run 7 30 pm. The event features pies doughnuts hamburgers and music with chef Hal Maus ensuring a wholesome meal for all attendees.

Accident Injures Ralph Wiles at Deedsville Farm

Ralph Wiles was badly hurt when a shotgun discharged while he was unhooking a team at his father in law’s home near Deedsville. The load struck his right arm and side above the hip, penetrating flesh. He was taken to Miami County Hospital in Peru where doctors described the injury as serious but his condition improving.
