Quarterly Meeting at M E Church Honors Lewellen and Baker

The Sunday and Monday February 18 and 19 services included love feast and communion led by J N Baldwin of Deedsville and an evening sermon by Presiding Elder J A Lewellen. The Monday conference praised peace and harmony and favored renewing Brother Baker for another year while Lewellen’s term on the Warsaw District was urged to continue.

Death of Mrs Matindé in Weasaw District

Mrs Matindé, wife of Mr Joli, died suddenly Monday after collapsing from what doctors attributed to neuralgia of the heart. She was about forty eight and lived with her mother near Weasaw. Funeral services were held at the Weasaw Church with interment nearby.

Dangerfield and Baber Married in Peru Romance

Nora Dangerfield and Charles Baber tied the knot in Peru on February 17 1900 at the parsonage with Br Cooper officiating. The couple then hosted an elegant supper for about fifty guests at the groom’s parents residence Mr and Mrs Daniel Baber. Gifts were received as congratulations poured in.

Grandmother Mackey Dies After Short Illness Near Onward

Mrs. Arthur Mackey mother of Mrs. Libbie Kirby and grandmother of A. B. Gryer died at home near Onward last Sunday after only a few hours illness. She was highly respected and well known to many in the area today.
