At the White House on a Saturday two Cuban groups met US leaders. An ex-President of the Cuban Republic of 1895 a general and a priest urged immediate troop withdrawal and a fully independent Cuban government. Separately a group of 1337 Cuban schoolteachers attending Harvard summer courses were hosted by the President Mrs McKinley and Mrs Gage with a formal reception and tours of Washington.
