New Arrival: Boy Born to Mr and Mrs Hunt

The newborn son of Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Hunt arrived last Wednesday noon weighing seven and a half pounds. Marvin Rudolph is the name chosen for the new arrival. The mother and baby are doing well and the physician says recovery is expected with proper care after the son stroke referenced in the report.

Murphy Family Reunion Set for August in Meyers Grove

The fourth annual Murphy family reunion will be held in Meyers Grove north of Chili on Wednesday August 19. Secretary Claude Murphy is sending invitations to family members nationwide, and organizers expect this year to be the largest gathering yet.

Denver man undergoes operation for jaw decay in Chicago

Friday Chesten Long traveled to Chicago for surgery on necrosis of the upper jaw bone. He has suffered from the disease all summer but it worsened recently. He returned to Denver on Saturday and is under Dr. Newell’s care.

The Jefferson Township trustee proposes 1915 budget items at the No. 4 school district meeting. Township expenditures 1565 with 14c tax rate. local tuition 8900 with 35c. special school 4900 with 45c. road 2200 with 20c. additional road 80 with 7c. Leg Break On Gravel Road Near Hiner Hills

A. L. Davis was severely injured while helping operate a road plow on a gravel road between Denver and Peru. A clip and heavy double trees flew back striking him below the knee, breaking the leg in two places and dislocating ankle bones. He was taken home for treatment and Dr. Waymire attended to the injury.

Sunday School Picnic Draws Large Attendance

A large crowd gathered for the Sunday School picnic in the grove near Deedaville on Saturday. Attendees say turnout was higher than in many years, about twice as many people as last year. Speakers and music were praised, and the day was ideal for the event.

L. E. & W. Freight Wreck Delays Trains Near Depot

Three loaded freight cars of southbound train No. 75 left the track just north of the depot blocking traffic for hours. A Peru wreck crew re-railed the cars while the southbound passenger train was held up about three hours. Cause traced to a switch left unlocked by a prior train.
