Passion Week at Denver M E Church Concludes with Growth

The Denver M E Church closed Passion Week with a crowning Sunday. Sunday School at 9 30 a m Epworth League at 6 30 p m and class meeting at 10 45 p m. Three and six converts joined the church during morning and evening services. The Epworth League led by Frank Lee added five new members. A May 4th return of the Old Southland Sextette is announced along with orchestra and choir rehearsals and a union prayer meeting.

Brethren Church Plans Sermons and Mission Day

The Brethren church invites all to Sunday services on April 30 with a 9 30 am Bible sermon. Morning worship at 10 30 am marks Foreign Mission Day and a missionary offering. Evening service at 7 30 pm features The Resurrection. Members urged to boost Sunday School in Denver vs Peru contest.

New landlord arrives at Denver Hotel

J. H. Cunningham, who traded his Ohio farm to W. A. Phillips for the Denver Hotel, arrived Monday to assume duties as landlord. He is praised as a successful businessman and is expected to keep the hotel a proud hostelry for the town.

Denver Lodge to Attend Peru County Meeting

The Denver K of P Lodge accepts an invitation from the Peru lodge to attend a county meeting in Peru next Thursday evening May 4. A full attendance is planned with initiatory work at the meeting followed by a banquet and entertainment. All members intend to attend.

Denver Commercial Club Plans Centennial Celebration and Street Improvements

The Denver Commercial Club met at Goffs Restaurant with many members present. They discussed repairing hitch racks and oiling street fronts, forming foundations for horses, and inviting property owners to oil frontages to support better crossings. A large Centennial Celebration and Booster Week was approved for June, with J H Goff L H Dice and C W Long named to organize, and the Township Centennial committee invited to assist.

Alderfer Shows Open 1916 Season in Peru and Denver

The Alderfer Shows begin 1916 in Peru this Friday and Saturday, then perform in Denver Monday with afternoon and evening shows. A 1:00 p.m. steed parade features new $10,000 wagons built under R. H. Duderstadt. Exhibitions at Grimes' field north of town promise bigger, better features.

Brethren minister arrives in Denver from Bryant Ohio

Rev. L. A. Myers new Brethren church minister arrived in Denver last Thursday from Bryant Ohio. He shipped his goods and traveled with his family in a Maxwell. He preached at Tiosa last Sunday and will occupy the Denver pulpit next Sunday. They will reside in the Fennimore property in South Denver.

Obituary: Samuel T Griffith 1833 1916

Samuel Taylor Griffith of Wayne County Indiana born June 26 1833 lived much of his life in Richland township Miami County He married Mary Ann Wilkinson July 27 1858 and had three children including Jesse Wilkinson He later married Eliza Jane Long and had seven more children He joined the Baptist Church at Chili and helped build the Denver Indiana church He died April 15 1916 at age 82 years 10 months and 19 days Interment at Chili Indiana
