Fire destroys Cool home in Macksville Kansas

Mrs William Tharp received a letter from her brother Frank Cool of Macksville Kansas reporting that his home and contents were completely destroyed by fire on April 1. The cause is unknown and the family could save only a few small articles.

Alderfer Show Expands for 1916 Touring Season

Charles Alderfer reports the Alderfer Show has doubled in size for the 1916 season adding ten wagons for a total of twenty five and a new band wagon. Rev Sheak serves as treasurer and lecturer, Max Wiltshire runs stock, and Prof Robert A Duderstadt designed the wood carvings. Opening in Peru April 28 29 then Denver May 1 with stops at Twelve Mile May 2 Fulton May 3 Macy May 4 Akron May 1 Rochester May 6, two shows daily.

In the North Indiana M E Conference Ebenezer moves to Gilead as Denver circuit becomes two point. Rev J B Cook, asked by Dr Hellopeter to supply Gilead until June 1, preaches at Disco Pleasant Hill and Gilead then Ebenezer on April 23 at 10 30 am and 7 30 pm promising an old fashioned Easter sermon.

Moon Harrell Couple Wed in Quiet Methodist Ceremony

Reverend L G Jacobs offers a rat crusade to the town and reports catching forty rats in his barn last Thursday. He says the effort began after twenty chickens were killed the night before, framing it as revenge.

Social at Weasaw church aids Sunday School funds

On April 22 at the Weasaw church three miles northwest of Denver a social will offer ice cream cake and a lunch with coffee. Everyone is invited to join the Weasaw people to raise funds for needed improvements at the Sunday School.

Easter program outlines a 10 30 a m service by the church and Sunday School combined with readings recitations choir numbers and a short address. Samuel T. Griffith Dies at 82 in Logansport

Remains of Samuel T. Griffith aged 82 died in Logansport Saturday morning. He was brought to Denver Saturday evening aboard the Vandalia train and taken to his daughter Mrs Omer Zook’s home north of Denver. Funeral held at Denver Baptist church Monday at 2 PM conducted by Dr Bailey of Peru. Interment at Chili cemetery.

A baby girl was born Friday morning to Mr and Mrs Elvin Long of the Woolleytown neighborhood. Both mother and child are reported doing nicely.
