Mrs William Tharp received a letter from her brother Frank Cool of Macksville Kansas reporting that his home and contents were completely destroyed by fire on April 1. The cause is unknown and the family could save only a few small articles.

Mrs. Amanda Platt of 808 South Elm Street, Muncie, Indiana, after fifteen years of pain from rheumatism, reports success with Taniac the Master Medicine. She says her pains vanished appetite returned and she now sleeps well. The product is sold at Donaldson's Drug Store in Denver Indiana.
Attendees praised Rev Myers for his first regular sermons at the Denver Brethren church. He is said to have a pleasing personality and a strong voice. The minister and his family will move to Denver and reside on the Fenni more property in South Denver in a few weeks.
Charles Alderfer reports the Alderfer Show has doubled in size for the 1916 season adding ten wagons for a total of twenty five and a new band wagon. Rev Sheak serves as treasurer and lecturer, Max Wiltshire runs stock, and Prof Robert A Duderstadt designed the wood carvings. Opening in Peru April 28 29 then Denver May 1 with stops at Twelve Mile May 2 Fulton May 3 Macy May 4 Akron May 1 Rochester May 6, two shows daily.
In the North Indiana M E Conference Ebenezer moves to Gilead as Denver circuit becomes two point. Rev J B Cook, asked by Dr Hellopeter to supply Gilead until June 1, preaches at Disco Pleasant Hill and Gilead then Ebenezer on April 23 at 10 30 am and 7 30 pm promising an old fashioned Easter sermon.
Miss Ethel Moon formerly of Denver and sister of Mrs. R. S. Place married Gordon L. Harrell of Huntington at the Methodist Parsonage in a Saturday ceremony at 2 30. They will reside in Huntington in a furnished flat while doing light housekeeping.
Reverend L G Jacobs offers a rat crusade to the town and reports catching forty rats in his barn last Thursday. He says the effort began after twenty chickens were killed the night before, framing it as revenge.
On April 22 at the Weasaw church three miles northwest of Denver a social will offer ice cream cake and a lunch with coffee. Everyone is invited to join the Weasaw people to raise funds for needed improvements at the Sunday School.
Easter program outlines a 10 30 a m service by the church and Sunday School combined with readings recitations choir numbers and a short address. Participants include Gladys Benedict Eva Teague Miriam Bell Omer Zook Elbert Zook and Donald Zook among others. The service ends with the anthem He is Risen and a benediction.
Remains of Samuel T. Griffith aged 82 died in Logansport Saturday morning. He was brought to Denver Saturday evening aboard the Vandalia train and taken to his daughter Mrs Omer Zook’s home north of Denver. Funeral held at Denver Baptist church Monday at 2 PM conducted by Dr Bailey of Peru. Interment at Chili cemetery.
A baby girl was born Friday morning to Mr and Mrs Elvin Long of the Woolleytown neighborhood. Both mother and child are reported doing nicely.
The infant Verniece Andrews, one month old, died at the Verle Andrews home north of Peru on Wednesday morning from an attack of whooping cough.
Mr and Mrs J W Ellis return to Denver from Peru and Toledo Ohio to spend the summer in town Fishing is cited as good in Eel River Mr Ellis notes.
An Easter entertainment is set at Weasaw Church next Sunday evening. The Weasaw Sunday School presents the program and invites all parishioners and neighbors to attend.

The Misses Hazel Minnix and Icon Hesser of Peru were entertained at Alma Dukes home in South Denver after the death of their father Samuel T. Griffith. The note expresses thanks to those who assisted during the bereavement and mentions the pleasant visit over the weekend.
Mrs George Rhinebarger and baby of Peru visited her parents Mr and Mrs E Kline and family Saturday afternoon.
Homer Mowery and Esther Forrey were married at the Methodist Parsonage in Denver on Saturday evening. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Leo Glenn Jacobs in the presence of the groom’s relatives. The couple will reside in Peru after a brief visit in Denver with family.
Scott Whitmore of Pulaski New York writes to renew his Tribune subscription saying the paper is like a letter from home. He notes they are improving their dairy work milking twenty cows and that he has been plowing for corn while catching the good fresh air.

Members of Wensaw Sunday School organized a surprise for Mrs Charles Richardson last Sunday. After services they gathered with baskets at the Richardson home for a day of sociable fellowship and enjoyment.
