Fall Spinach and Wheat Varieties for Maryland Food Crops

Maryland farmers are urged to plant a fall spinach crop with proper soil pH, spacing, and fertility. Long Standing Bloomsdale and Virginia Savoy are favored varieties. over-wintering possible. Wheat variety notes cover Nu Del Leapland Nittany Wahart and Thorne with yields around 20 bushels and disease resistance. Guidance on fertilizer rates depends on soil fertility and nitrogen needs for higher yields in 1952.
