Caroline Asks For Land Strip In Denton Plan
Edward Sparks told Denton Community Club that the Caroline County commissioners wrote Congressman Edward T. Miller to intercede with the federal government to relinquish claim to a land strip along the Courthouse Green from Market Street to Gay Street. The four acre green, once part of a 1939 post office site arrangement, remains a beauty spot with grass and trees maintained by taxpayers. Plans for ground observer posts in Denton and nearby towns were outlined with an estimated $1,000 total cost if Maryland Civil Defense provides $200 each.

The Washington College campus evening school begins Tuesday September 23 with a wide range of courses including Binet intelligence testing and guidance and counseling techniques. Four people injured in separate county crashes and a three car wreck east of Preston. DeWeese E Baynard of Denton fined 125 for reckless driving and DUI after leaving the road and hitting an electric pole. Maurice E Porter and John Hollingsworth suffered injuries when Porter's car hit a culvert on the Denton Greensboro road. William P Guessford of Denton lost control and went down an embankment. Mary Breeding of Henderson treated for facial lacerations. A separate three car collision east of Preston involved Percy Wilson Thomas George Virginia Wainwright and Virgie West with multiple injuries and charges. Cpl Gus Koste investigated.
