Gordon Reunion Held Sunday
A Gordon family reunion for Levi Gordon was held at the Gordon home near Greensboro. About thirty seven relatives and friends attended a Sunday supper and shared memories and stories of the late Gordon, with many family members listed from Windber, Windber Pa. to Philadelphia. The gathering included numerous Gordon relatives and friends from Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. On Saturday, Robert Joiner and two children from Richardson Park, Del., visited the Gordons.

William J M Wroten 52 proprietor of the Ice Service Company of Clayton and Denton and head of the Wroten Insurance Agency Smyrna died at home after a months long illness. A Smyrna community leader and chamber director, he moved from Clayton to Smyrna six years ago and held multiple regional posts. He survived by his wife Lee C Wroten and four siblings. services Friday at 2 pm at Asbury Methodist Church Smyrna. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna.

Thirty six Federalsburg residents gathered at the county commissioners office to oppose Mae Glessner s beer license for her button factory area near the public park. A 266 name petition was presented, the decision postponed, and Isaac Quillen Jr denied for lack of a operable premises while a license was granted to Jack Lepore of Marydel.

Representative Dudley G Roe announces plans to introduce a bill in Congress for a bridge or tunnel linking the Eastern and Western Shores of the state. He urges Gov Herbert R OConor to appoint a panel to study the best mode with Army engineers, arguing a cross bay link would speed access to Baltimore and Washington markets and relieve ferry and truck traffic. The idea, dormant since Paul E Titsworths proposals, is being revived by Eastern Shore civic groups.

Oron F Smith retires after 33 years of service in the Denton post office with two years as clerk and earlier as assistant postmaster from 1907 to 1916. Caroline County awards committee completed the premium list for the Poultry and Farm Products Show and set general rules. Ex-Service Man Obtains Farm in Caroline County
An ex service man and his wife became the first to own a farm in Caroline county under the G I Bill of Rights. The 104 acre Greensboro area farm was purchased with loans to buy the land modernize the dwelling and acquire implements stock and dairy cattle. The closing took place in Denton with Farm Security Administration representatives present. Other veterans are urged to apply at the Denton FSA office in the Carter Building during weekday hours.

Oasis Dance Hall Destroyed By Sunday Night Fire
The Oasis on Highway 313 was destroyed by a fire early Monday with estimated losses around 5000 dollars. Origin undetermined. Den ton and Greensboro fire squads responded after a passing motorist alerted them. Emory Walston, Den ton first assistant chief, said flames spread quickly. The 40 by 100 foot one story frame hall had opened by Temple Dean and Fred Jarvis of Greensboro a bit over a year ago. it had been used Saturday but closed Sunday.
