Tractor Operator Burned When Tractor Overturned in Denton
A Denton tractor operator Max H Horton was critically burned when his farm tractor overturned on Market Street near Route 404 at 8 10 am Monday. The tractor burst into flames after pinning Horton under the steering wheel and he was taken to Memorial Hospital Easton. A passing truck driver poured milk on the blaze. The tractor was a total loss. Two youths injured in a separate crash on Route 16 west of Greenwood were hospitalized at Milford Memorial with serious head injuries and abrasions after their car left the road and rolled over. Donald E Drummond 16 Greenwood suffered a deep head laceration and possible skull fracture. Dallas E Hayman 19 Denton treated for head abrasions.

About 250 members and guests attended the Denton area annual meeting of the S. S. Denton Cooperative. District Manager R. W. Durham reviewed the 1957-58 year, noting Southern States total purchasing and marketing volume of 2 million and net worth over 38 million. Local board members Wayne Cawley Jr and James Voss were elected with Mrs Earl Love and Mrs George Shaffer as chair and secretary respectively.

Sixty three high school and college youths with adult counselors from Maryland Delaware and DC gathered at Washington College Chester to study Christian leadership for a week under the Chesapeake Area United Christian Youth Movement Council. Brethren Youth Attend National Youth Conference At Junaluska
From August 25 to 29 Lake Junaluska North Carolina hosted the National Youth Conference of the Church of the Brethren with 34 youth and 4 counselors from Mardela District among nearly 2,600 attendees. The event featured theme Our Faith Tremendous, Bible hours led by Rev. Edward K. Zeigler, talk back sessions, a 53 piece orchestra, and an antiphonal sing under a full moon. A memorial service remembered 20 Brethren among 99 killed in a recent trans Atlantic plane crash. Attendees came from 48 districts and five countries.
