Favorable Conditions for Balanced Livestock Rations
Dr De Voe Meade of the University of Maryland reports this year offers well balanced rations for livestock. Ample supplies of high protein meals and vegetable protein supplements are expected in 1942 43 totaling about 7 500 000 tons or 111 pounds per animal unit. Soy bean and peanut meal cake will lead the increase with extra oil cottonseed and linseed meals also available. Tankage and meat scrap from record hog and livestock slaughter will add tonnage. Balancing rations with protein boosts production and efficient use of feeds. Malnutrition among strategic herds and flocks is unnecessary this year.
