Plea To Close 34 Road Opposed By Regional Groups

Protests from Hebron town authorities, the Roeckawalkin Produce Growers, Vienna Trust Bank, and the County Commissioners Association oppose Baltimore and Eastern Railroad Company plans to abandon lines between Hurlock Vienna and Salisbury. They warn it would cripple transport for about 40 shippers accounting for most Rockawaikin exports. The railroad cites lack of capital to fund a $135 000 bridge over the Nanticoke River as a reason for the proposed discontinuation.
