Weather and crop conditions across Maryland show mixed frost damage and strong yields
This week featured two cool days and a damaging frost in western Maryland with light to heavy frost in other divisions. Rain measured as high as 2.06 inches at Keedysville and 2.00 inches at Baltimore, while sunshine was abundant. Crops and grasses range from good to excellent. pastures improving, haying and sowing of grains ongoing, wheat sowing nearing completion in Grantsville and eastern Washington County, barley and oats sown at various locations, and corn still being harvested in northern counties. Tobacco curing proceeds, apples and pears being picked, pumpkins hauled, silos filling, and bean harvest active. labor for harvest is scarce.
