Come to Caroline lands invitation by Kerr in immigration circular
Commissioner Kerr extols Caroline County inviting settlers to the peninsula noting level soils from sand to wheat and grasslands. He cites high wheat and corn yields, a booming fruit and vegetable packing industry with fifty establishments, and a postwar immigration wave fueling agricultural progress. Manufacturing staples include flour, lumber, baskets, shirts, tile, brick, wagons and food products, totaling nearly 1.5 million dollars yearly.

Panama Imbroglio and Panamanian Treaty Critique
The article condemns the Panama treaty as a grave American concession. It asserts the U S gains absolute sovereignty over five miles of canal area and harbor facilities while paying Panama ten million dollars plus annual eight-figure sums, creating a de facto protectorate. It notes Colombia’s envoy threatens war if negotiations fail, linking to wider imperial concerns.

It discusses Warfield’s resignations, Collins backing for Speakership, and a wary Democratic strategy to confine city influence. It covers Rayner and Smith as leading Senate candidates and organization hopes for party discipline.

Boundary Line Survey Reaffirms Mason and Dixon Span
The Mason Dixon line, traced for the first time since 140 years ago, was resurveyed under a Pennsylvania Maryland joint commission. The historic border, once marked by mile apart stones, faced vanished markers and boundary disputes, prompting both states to fund anew. W G Hodgkins led the surveying team in April 2001 under the U S Coast and Geodetic Survey. The border, set by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon in 1769, separated slave and free states and crowned a long history of provincial overlaps and lawlessness along the frontier.
