Mummy Found in California Cave by Berkeley Anthropologists
Anthropologists at the University of California Berkeley report a natural human mummy of an eight to nine year old child found in Bamert cave near Clements Amador County. They recovered basketry shells arrow shafts food acorn shells and netting dating from the 1849 Gold Rush era. The dry sheltered site preserved perishable items and suggests a possible cultural practice of interring children in caves.

Village Life Mirrors World Wide In Brazilian Commune
A Smithsonian Institute field study led by Donald Pierson, with Brazilian collaborators, surveys Cruz das Almas a small Brazilian village near Sao Paulo. After 18 months of daily observation, researchers note reliance on tradition amid urban influence, with gender cosmetic use rising and farmer grievances against middlemen. The village shows mixed heritage, agricultural subsistence, and pride in rural identity despite city encroachment.

Eye Focus and Lens Adjustment
Eye focus is achieved by a muscle around the lens that changes its shape. When relaxed the lens is thick for nearby objects. when contracted it flattens for distant objects. This differs from a camera lens which changes position rather than shape to focus.
Early Roots of Alternating Current Power
