The four upper Eastern Shore counties Cecil Kent Caroline and Queen Annes begin playoff games at 1 pm Friday November 15 to decide District 4 representatives for the Eastern Shore and State titles. Class CO teams with 150+ seniors and Class D under 150 contend in soccer and field ball with opening pairings at Sudlersville Chestertown North East and Cecilton. The title rounds for Class C soccer and field ball occur Tuesday November 19 at Sadlersville with Class D finals at Chestertown.

Ural Bee discussed raising fat hogs, Dudley Winters staged tricks, and Francis M. Rogers acted as toastmaster. Cash awards honored recent local hog show winners.

Maddox Named President of Chesapeake and Potomac Co
H. Randolph Maddox was elected president of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Baltimore City effective January 1, 1947 after a board meeting. He succeeds Mark R. Sullivan who will become president of Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company. Maddox has risen through the ranks since 1921, holding key posts in Maryland, West Virginia, and Washington, with a long Bell System career and training from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and Lehigh University. Sullivan, a California native, previously led the A T and T engineering department during WWII and became president of the Chesapeake and Potomac companies on October 1, 1945.
