Maryland Hops Growers See Bright Future For State
Brewmaster Carl Kreitler of Harford County has harvested Maryland’s first commercial hop crop this year. He says Maryland soil and climate suit hop cultivation and cites support from the University of Maryland and U.S. Department of Agriculture. He notes current major hop areas are New York and Pacific coast regions and predicts Maryland could rival tobacco as a profitable cash crop.
