Certificate requirement for commercial vehicles after November 15

Office of Defense Transportation directs all truck bus taxi and other commercial motor vehicles to carry certificates of war necessity after November 15. Without a certificate fuel tires and parts will be unavailable. Carriers with blanks must complete them accurately and return in self addressed envelopes.

Dry Sunny Week Improves Local Crops and Harvests

This week was dry and sunny with a mean temperature about 2 degrees above normal. Autumn crops, grasses, pastures, and early sown grains show good to excellent growth. wheat at Flintstone, barley at Horlock, and rye at several towns report strong to very good stands. Sowing resumes but much remains to be planted. corn cutting continues and some damage from October rains is noted. Prices for Stayman and Delicious apples reach up to $2.00 per bushel at Bel Air.

Store leftovers in lightless, sealed containers. label liquid sprays. drain and oil dusters and sprayers. replace essential parts sparingly. avoid rubber hose kinks, and keep equipment cool and dark to prevent deterioration.
