Wheat Parity Plans Tied to June Vote on Quotas
The 1959 wheat price support starts at a minimum of 1.81 dollars per bushel if two-thirds of June 20 referendum voters approve marketing quotas. The guarantee may rise with parity price and supply data as of July 1 1959, and producers within allotments in the commercial area would qualify for support on all wheat produced.

Wheat support quotas tied to two thirds vote
In noncommercial counties the area will get 75.47 percent of support if quotas are not approved by two thirds. If not approved, support for the 1959 wheat crop in commercial areas falls to 50 percent of parity, about $1.20 per bushel. Compliance with allotments remains required for the lower price. The $1.81 per bushel equals 75 percent of parity. Support level hinges on estimated total supply versus a normal supply for the year. The 1959-60 wheat supply is now estimated at 170.9 percent of normal.
