Dentonians to Play at Centreville
The Dentonians travel to Centreville on Sunday to face the newly formed club. Veteran Shoreball players Ralph Walls, Brownie Coleman, Walt Plumber, Ed Turner and Cas Clough join the effort while Cy Cole, the local manager, seeks more talent. Weekday drills will be scheduled as the club builds its roster.

Private first class Thomas H Allston, inducted last September, was assigned to camps in the South for training and service and later shipped out from a ship at sea. In a letter to his parents Mr and Mrs Arthur Allston near Denton he describes a beautiful voyage with ocean skies at sunset and long nights alone on the ship, a keeping experience for the young recruit.

Wimbrow Plays First Base for Duke in Navy Loss
Duke lost to Navy 5 to 4 in Annapolis as Charlie Wimbrow of Denton, former Dentonians, started at first base for Duke. He had one hit in five at bats with five put outs one assist and drove in a run. The Denton fan base hopes he reaches the major leagues.

Thomas Lankford, Storekeeper 8c USN, 21, from Federalsburg, is reported missing in the south Pacific since May 14. He trained in Wilmington and Providence and Washington before sailing February 2, 1944. He served with a Spare Parts Distribution Center and is mourned by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Claude Lankford and sister Mrs. Roscoe Parker.

Captain George Harrison Nashold Jr., 22, leader of the 79th Fighter Squadron, has flown 198 missions in the Mediterranean, Africa, Sicily, Salerno, and Anzio. A Greensboro native, he is married to Claire Fisher of Frederica and nicknamed his plane Claire's Starduster. He received the Air Medal and three Oak Leaf Clusters. Nashold will return to duty after a Greensboro visit following June in Atlantic City.

Mrs. Harry J. Koch of near Greensboro reports her husband Petty Officer Harry J. Koch has arrived safely in Hawaii. Koch was inducted into the Navy Seabees on March 4 1943 and trained at Camp Peary Virginia and Camp Endicott Rhode Island. His battalion left the United States in February and landed in March. Before induction he was a chauffeur for the State Roads Commission.

She witnessed Pearl Harbor attack from a hospital, Hawaii since February 1941, and expects leave soon. A Caroline High School and University of Pennsylvania alumna, she worked at Jewish Hospital Philadelphia and began at Walter Reed before helping open an operating room at Mitchell Field Long Island.
