Merriam announced the revision of the St Marys, Charles, and Anne Arundel county census after the State census bill. The update removed 3 196 incorrectly placed names and added 1 526 unenumerated persons to gain representation. The action exposed a political strategy by a Republican interest in the legislature.

Investment life policy versus savings bank returns for 81 year old
A discussion on whether a life insurance policy outperforms a savings bank. An 81 year old deposits 1670 annually at 4 percent compound interest would reach 2881 after 31 years. The Mutual Life Insurance payout on Jean H Frank’s 1870 policy shows total accumulations of 2905, exceeding a 4 percent savings balance and illustrating policy advantages over bank savings over time. A letter from William E. Frank of Wilmington accompanies the piece.
