The Caroline County Bar endorsed Judge J. DeWeese Carter for election in 1950 as Associate Judge of the Second Judicial Circuit of Maryland. The endorsement praises his integrity judicial temperament and legal ability and notes the bar’s recognition of his fairness.
Women who attended the Rural Women's Short Course at College Park gathered for a covered dish luncheon at the fire house in Denton. Short talks by Mrs. Leon Spicer of Church Creek acting president of the State Short Course Club, Mrs. Harms, and Miss Blanche Hobbs followed by a humorous reading and songs. Alberta Porter presided in the absence of Mrs. Paul Hoff man, with Mrs. Harry Nuttle named temporary chairman. Committees organized for future Short Course activities as preparation for the June 19 to 24 College Park event. Interesse d attendees were urged to contact committee members or Miss Bessie M. Spafford, Home Demonstration Agent, Denton.
Frank Howard, a farmer near Pinetown between Williston and American Corners, is hospitalized in Memorial Hospital Easton with a broken arm and crushed chest after being kicked by a horse in his barn. Neighbor William Stanford aided him to the house and summoned a doctor.
The Business and Professional Women's Club of Caroline Counts will hold its annual banquet on Tuesday March 28 in the Community House Denton. Miss Hattie Brooks of Cambridge will speak on India. A musical program features Mrs Gilbert Rue and Miss Julia Wilson of Denton performing pieces by Greig Schumann and songs including Charlie Is My Darling and Awake.
Maryland increases the liability premiums for Class II private passenger cars used by owners or operators under 25, boosting rates about 20 percent to 6750 per year. The policy applies to each vehicle used by household members under 23 and tallies accidents showing higher risk among youthful drivers.
A 72 year old Winchester Smith, proprietor of a Willoughby general store near Queen Anne, was found bludgeoned to death Saturday night. A transient Mars land worker, tied to the canning season and former friend of Smith, is named as a possible suspect in a nationwide teletype. Police and five state officers meet with State's Attorney Turner to review leads as investigators believe robbery funded the crime.
A Mental Hygiene film titled Maislands Mental I. T will premiere on March 29 at Federalshore High School on the Eastern Shore. Mrs Gertrudo Nilsson Ey ecut, and Elaine Michelson Educational Tdneector of the Mental Hygiene Society of Marsland will speak. The event, sponsored by Caroline Counts temporary mental hygiene committee, follows lectures on mental health planned by Caroline County Board of Education and the public health department.
The 195 edition of the Greensboro Lions Club Minstrel will play in the high school auditorium March 29 and 30 at 8 PM. Directors Carlton Porter and Carmen Lergett present a lineup led by Bert Hastings as master of ceremonies with Qash Lewis Russ Wright and Doc Rivers. Bill Bailey leads specialty numbers with Sam Schlossberg. veteran performers Wallace Hutson and Carmen Leg boast a blend of old favorites and new tunes.
Caroline Counts invites members and mental hygiene group affiliates to the Alcoholics Anonymous founding anniversary at 8 P M on March 27 at Christ Episcopal Parish House Cambridge Speakers from Philadelphia AA will attend and discuss alcoholism issues.
Baseball players and fans are invited to a meeting at Denton Fire House on Wednesday March 29 at 8 pm to discuss the town's baseball future. Russ Orme, Denton's new manager, urges prompt attendance to rally support for the upcoming season.
The Denton Bobcats defeated Federalsburg 64 to 39 to win the Eastern Shore League playoff crown before a 652 crowd at Denton Armor. Denton started strong 16 to 11, trailed at halftime 28 21, then surged in the third quarter led by Bull Brown and Frank Apichelia to pull away. Westtalk led Federalsburg with 21 points while Brown paced Denton with 20.
The State Teachers College at Salisbury marks its 25th founding anniversary with a Seniors Day program featuring the ground breaking for a new 250 000 dollar men’s dormitory. About 300 high school students and 3500 alumni are invited. A procession to the dorm site will be led by the Wolcombe Hash School Band with a Color Guard of WWII veterans and military officials in attendance.

Mrs. Lydie Lynde a University of Maryland Family Life Specialist leads a series of meetings with the Home Demonstration Agents of the Eastern Shore from March 23 to 25 at Easton organized to share guidance and best practices.
Greensboro Volunteer Fire Co launches a fund raising drive for a new engine with $719 raised from about 10 percent of local civic, business, property owner, and citizen supporters. A $16,000 engine is due in late May. treasury sits near $10,000 from dances, carnivals, bingo, and donations.

Seven Caroline county service clubs plan a joint banquet in the Denton Armory on Tuesday April 11 to honor Rotary International District 267 governor W Edwin Unger from Federalsburg and Lions District 22B governor Orland B Blades from Preston. Governor William Preston Lane Jr will address over 300 members, with entertainment by Rivers Chambers and song leaders Rev J Howard Link and Rev T J Turkington. Jack Logan will be toastmaster as members of the Eastern Star serve the meal.
Denton Bobcats and Georgetown County Seaters reach the Dover YMCA third annual Eastern Shore Invitational final, to play Saturday at Dover High Field House after a consolation between Harrington and Delaware City. Georgetown leads in team awards. Denton edged Delaware City 38 37 in a tense semi final.
