Caroline Mental Health Drive Under Way in Caroline County

The Caroline Chapter of the National Maryland Association for Mental Health kicks off a countywide drive with town campaigns in Federalsburg Greensboro Preston Goldsboro Henderson Ridgely Dentson and Denton directing a goal of 2000 by July 1. Treasurer Mrs. Clarence Kern reports 599.76 collected so far and solicitors yet to come.

Caroline Co Red Cross annual meeting honors longtime worker

The Caroline County Red Cross held a well attended annual meeting at the County Health office. Clara Hitchcock received a special award for over forty years of continuous Red Cross service and remains active as Assistant Chairman of Home Production. New officers include James O Knotts president Mrs Sarah Bush vice president Dr Edwin G Riley secretary Aldridge Pepper treasurer. New directors Edward Derrickson Dr Riley Mrs Bash Jim Knotts and Chas Moore three year terms with Derrickson named Disaster Chairman. Progress reports cover Junior and Senior Life Saving classes and a plan to expand activity with six advanced classes in Federalsburg and beginner classes at Harmony Pond. The group voted to participate in the Caroline County United Fund Drive for 1958.

Class of 1938 C H S Holds Reunion Saturday

The Caroline High School class of 1938 met at the Denton firehouse on Saturday evening June 14. Fourteen of the 34 members attended, plus families and guests bringing total attendance to 27 for a turkey dinner by the Ladies Auxiliary. Special guests included class sponsor Mrs Jonathan Hughes and Rev T J Turkington.

Caroline High School Class of 1930 Reunion

The Caroline High School class of 1930 held a reunion at the Community House in Denton on June 14. Thirty three attendees, including 19 alumni and families, with former homeroom teacher Mrs. Mildred Nuttle Voss as guest of honor, gathered for a turkey dinner, social hour, and reflections on five deceased members, led by President Burton Parker and others.

Leach To Speak At Rotary Club Tuesday

John G. Leach, noted authority on helping handicapped children, will headline the Rotary year’s finale Tuesday evening. He serves as vice-president and director of the Golden Beacom School of Business, and the Delaware Day School for Handicapped Children was renamed in his honor.

Delmarva Chicken Festival Schedule In Denton

The 11th annual Delmarva Chicken Festival in Denton runs June 26 27 28 with events at School Grounds Armory and nearby sites. Highlights include outdoor barbecue contests junior Miss Delmarva pageant National Chicken Cooking contests art and industry exhibits band concerts and a giant parade with multiple prize drawings and a fry pan food court.

Federalsburg girl hurt in serious bike accident

Officer Watson Wessel of Federalsburg police was rear ended near Walkertown while returning a prisoner to Denton Jail. Linda Miller, 12, mounted a bike in Mrs Hubbard's yard and struck the right fender. She suffered a broken wrist and possible skull fracture. condition listed as critical Saturday.

Farm Home Destroyed By Fire In Tuckahoe Neck

Fire destroyed the home of Mrs. Margaret Murray in Tuckahoe Neck as Denton Volunteer Fire Co responded just before noon on Monday. Murray children ran for help as the house and contents suffered near total loss, with insurance only partly covering the damage.
