Maryland Brucellosis Control Plan Requires Cattle Testing
Emergency regulation mandates compulsory herd plans for beef and dairy cattle. Plan A requires testing by Jan 1 1955 with infected cattle slaughtered. Plan B tests by Jan 1 1955 with no immediate slaughter. A temporary choice prevents hardship, with full Plan A by Nov 1 1955 and slaughter of infected cattle by Dec 31 1955. After Jan 1 1956 Plan A only. Ear tags and B branding, veterinary blood sampling paid by owners, labs handle testing free of charge, indemnity maintained for slaughtered cattle.
