Pensions Appropriations Act of Maryland 1878 Summary

Maryland General Assembly passes a detailed annual appropriations act for the fiscal year ending September 79. It lists salaries for state officers, judiciary, inspectors, and various officials, plus pensions, contingent funds, schools, and state institutions. Also repeals earlier pension acts and empowers the Comptroller to settle accounts with collectors and others, with required approvals and fees.

Repeal of 1876 pension act for war of 1812 widows and soldiers

The act repealing the 1876 chapter 320 provision granting eighty dollar annual pensions to certain war of 1812 soldiers and widows, payable quarterly, is enacted. The repeal is signed by Speaker Fetter Noblitzell and Governor Carroll, with Chief Clerks Gassaway and Kipp noting the January session act as the correct copy.
