Central Warning System Planned for Caroline County

Caroline County Commissioners approved a central emergency warning system with state cost sharing to install and operate a 24 hour alarm network. Initial county cost is about 10000 dollars, with full operation expected by January 1965 from Civil Defense headquarters in Denton and will connect to all municipalities.

Schools Conclude Adult Program in Caro Line County

Two hundred forty seven adult students attended classes in Caro Line County this season, including 160 women and 87 men. Thirteen courses ran from 12 to 30 two hour sessions at Federalsburg Preston Col. Richardson Lockerman North Caroline.

U of M Degrees to be Earned by Eight Caroline Countians

About 3300 University of Maryland graduates will be honored on Saturday. Eight Caroline County residents are listed among the degree recipients including Denton Ruby C. Adams with a BS in Physical Education, George H. Caple Jr. with a Master of Education, Lawrence L. Coulby with a BS in Business and Public Administration, Merry L. County High Schools To Graduate Over 260 Seniors

Two hundred sixty four Caro line County high school seniors will receive diplomas Monday evening as graduation exercises are held in North Carolina Col Richardson and Lockerman high schools. Final exercises begin Sunday with baccalaureate services at Lockerman at 7 p.m. and an hour later at North Carolina and Col Richardson. Reverends Brewer Pitsenbarger and Nelson are speakers at North Carolina Col Richardson Lockerman. North Carolina High School commencement date June 8 1964.

Memorial Hospital Association elects new board and officers

At the annual meeting held last week at Memorial Hospital Sigurd N Hersloff Jr Easton and Robert W Holt Federalsburg were elected to the Board for three years. Mrs K T Everngam Denton John Sparks Chester Walter McCord Easton and Robert Cox Easton reelected for second three year terms. A Fletcher Sick Jr named president for one year succeeding Elias W Nuttle who had served three years. Extension Agent Appointed in Two Counties

Mrs. Joan E. Tucker has been named Extension Agent for Home Economics and 4-H in Caroline and Dorchester Counties. She starts Monday June 8, 1964, with headquarters in the Extension Service Office in the Denton Post Office Building. A Maryland Eastern Shore native, she grew up in Wicomico County and earned a B.S. in Home Economics with honors from Morgan State College in 1963.

Denton Town Commission Tightens Outside Water Rules

Denton town commissioners Monday night amended an outside water use ordinance to unify schedules for residents inside and outside town limits. Mayor Walter Palmer ordered that within the corporate limits even houses use on even dates and odd houses on odd dates, while outside the limits homes on north and east sides use on odd dates and those on west and south sides on even dates, reversing the former outside schedule.

Graduates Today Fred G Usilton III Earns Pratt BFA

Fred G. Usilton III, son of Mr and Mrs Fred Usilton Jr of Denton, receives a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute Brooklyn today. A graphic arts major he is among 11 seniors chosen for a one man show in April and some work will appear in the Senior Art Show this summer. He studied under Mrs Nance Asher in Denton and was in North Carolina High School's first art class, graduating in 1960. He plans to return to Pratt for a master's degree and hopes to teach.

Denton Firemen Respond to Three Weekend Alarms

Denton firemen answered three weekend calls including a Sunday afternoon shed fire at a house trailer site near Burrsville, a woods fire near Concord later that day, and a 3 15 a.m. Monday blaze involving a tractor trailer loaded with cardboard boxes on Route 404 near the Mulholland Harper plant in West Denton.
