Maryland House of Correction Reform Act of 1880

Maryland General Assembly amends and repeals sections of the 1878 act concerning the Maryland House of Correction. It authorizes sentencing to the correctional facility for larceny, tramp offenses, and assault or battery, with set minimums and maximums. Maryland Acts To Protect State Interest In Chesapeake And Ohio Canal

Maryland General Assembly authorizes the Attorney General to take action for the state's protection in suits involving the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company. The Comptroller must issue bonds or stipulations as directed, to secure or indemnify such actions, including pending federal suit by Daniel K Stewart seeking a receiver for the canal. The measure enables further proceedings in Supreme Court or elsewhere as needed to safeguard state interests.

Maryland Garnishment Reform Read in 1880 Legislative Text
