Last Appeal for the D P's Urges Admission of 850000 Displaced Persons
Secretary Marshall makes a final plea to Congress to admit a substantial number of Europe’s 850 000 displaced persons. He argues failure to act harms America’s honor and humanity, citing $182000000 annual cost if they stay abroad and the risk of Communist infiltration. The push is backed by War Secretary Patterson and Commerce Secretary Harriman as allies in a broad international appeal.
