Camp Meetings in Maryland Decline Since Early 1800s
A historical survey traces Maryland camp meetings from their Presbyterian and Methodist origins in Tennessee and Kentucky around 1799 1800 to their gradual collapse across counties by the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It notes Asbury Emory and other leaders, lists surviving camps like Concord and Brandywine Summit, and concludes that the revivalist gatherings may vanish or be repurposed as Christian summer schools.
