A field of about 25 top midget drivers will race in Harrington Del at the Delaware State Fair opening Saturday July 21. Len Duncan and Ernie McCoy lead a marquee field with ARDC and USAC sanctioning ensuring a high standard of competition. Action begins with practice at 1 45 p m, heats at 2 30 p m, and a 20 lap Sweepstakes Feature plus consolation and match races.

Miss Charlotte Ruf, a North Carolina high school senior and noted 4-H leader, was crowned Caroline Farm Queen for 1962 at the Caroline County Farm Bureau picnic at Garland Lake. Second place went to Betty Jean Saathoff, with Nancy Lister third. The event also featured a baby contest and drew hundreds from multiple counties as Miss Ruf prepares to represent Caroline in the Timonium Fair.

McLaughlin Wins A Thriller Race At The Georgetown Speedway
Delmarva racing fans saw a wild 23 lap feature at Georgetown Speedway last Friday night. Jackie McLaughlin of Thorofare New Jersey edged Glenn Guthrie of Washington DC as Guthrie dropped to 10th after a wild bank ride. J R Jones from Salisbury totaled his car in a turn. The program featured spins duels and hospital checks with several drivers reported not seriously injured.

Old Fiddlers Picnic at Lenape Park August 4th
The 33rd annual Old Fiddlers Picnic will be held at Lenape Park on Brandywine four miles from West Chester and fifteen miles north of Wilmington. The event runs from 10 AM to midnight with dancing and performances all day. Chairmen are Warren Mercer and Christian Sanderson. Daisy Kelly is Lenape Old Fiddlers Association secretary.

A landing pier site, land survey, and contour maps were approved with a fall forecast for fuller details. Bay Bridge to Run One Way at Weekend Peaks
The State Roads Commission will trial a partial one way traffic plan on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to relieve Sunday evening congestion. Westbound traffic will be allowed to flow during peak backups while eastbound lanes are briefly halted, with cycles repeated as needed. The plan follows higher traffic volumes and longer Sunday congestion, and aims to ease homeward journeys until a second Bay crossing is built.
