Maryland Mockingbird Range and Habits Described
Maryland hosts the northern limit of the mockingbird with increasing numbers. The bird, about 10 inches, gray upper parts, white under parts, nests 8 to 15 feet high, raises more than one brood, and eats insects in warmer months while consuming some weed seeds in fall. It is valued for insect control and song, though it may nibble small fruits.
