Gran Daffie shut down Castle Haven last Sunday as Denton posted a commanding 7 to 1 win. Daffie fanned 14, allowed six hits, and Denton built a 6 run lead early before cruising to victory.
Blades pitched through 212 innings with seven strikeouts when rain halted play just as Denton was due to bat in the third inning.
Denton travels to Trappe to meet the league leaders with manager Orme predicting a full squad. The Denton club recently beat the locals 3 to 2 in a hotly discussed game. They depart at twelve noon from Townsend's Innings.
During World War II armed forces had tetanus protection and only 12 of 2,734,918 wounded developed tetanus lockjaw, with six unvaccinated and four receiving boosters. In 1946 US civilians had 585 tetanus cases. In June Caro line County Health Department nursing staff immunized local Guard personnel against smallpox typhoid and tetanus ahead of summer camping expeditions.
Representatives from five Caroline County organizations met with groups from Talbot Dorchester and Queen Annes to organize volunteer service for Eastern Shore State Hospital. The plan includes donated supplies, entertainment, and weekly volunteer work with a Coastal Shore Community Council to begin meeting in October. Abs Thomas L Coll will provide patient needs lists. Local groups approving featured the County Health Department Associated Women of the Farm Bureau Berea Bible Class Federalsburg Nurses Board and Federalsburg PTA.
Unity Homemakers Club met Wednesday afternoon June 28 at the home of Mrs Francis Yeoman with assisting hostesses Mrs George Clendaniel and Mrs D Ralph Horsey. Fifteen members attended including three new members Mrs Laura Flaharty Mrs Wm G Towers and Miss Henke. The group discussed reports from Clothing and Parliamentary Law courses and planned a covered dish supper for July 20.

Tribbitt, with parcels located in Greensboro, Caroline County, various election districts, and the Town of Marydel.
The Willing Workers Circle invites the Men's Bible Class and wives to a covered dish supper on Monday July 10 at 6 PM at Garland Lake. If it rains the event moves to Grace Church Dining Room, followed by a class business meeting at 7:30 PM.
Stock car auto races will be held Sunday July 2 at Clark's Race Track two miles north of Ridgely Maryland in case of rain the date shifts to July 16. Sponsored by the Peninsula Stock Car Racing Club. There will be plenty of cars thrills and action.

Dr George S Langford University of Maryland entomologist says Japanese beetles arrive late this year in Marsland and may linger until mid August. Traps and milky white disease powder aim to curb the infestation while tphia wasps biologically attack grubs. He cautions regional variation with some counties seeing lighter damage and others a heavier invasion.
Eastern Shore fans can watch sandlot stars at Easton Ball Park on Wednesday July 12 at 8 30 P M. Talbot County teams form one division while Denton Ridgely Queen Anne and Cambridge form the other. Managers Douglas Sullivan and Russum Orme lead the All Star squads with a host of local players and no paid professionals. The game continues July 19 and 26 with top local talent in action.
The Caro line County Chapter of the American Red Cross held its annual meeting in Denton on June 21. Reports from Mrs. Elias Nuttle highlighted regional meetings and the need for Disaster and Home Service in every town. A slate for officers and directors was unanimously elected, with department chairmen named for Home Service, Production, and Disaster.
Joseph P. Healy, Baltimore business executive and Red Cross leader, was appointed state bank commissioner by Governor Lane to succeed J. Millard Tawes. Healy has long served as Swant & Company general manager and led public service efforts including race relations and higher education studies.
The Greener Pastures Contest in Maryland named Caroline County winners A. T. Blades of Preston as county champion and C. J. Kern of Denton as runner up. State judging will occur next Thursday July 13 with sessions at 1 30 p m at Blades farm and 3 30 p m at Kern farm. County farmers are invited to observe with state judges. A 14 year old boy riding a motor scooter was seriously hurt Wednesday when struck by a motorist who fled the scene. Calvin E. Howard of Federalsburg was treated and admitted to Easton Memorial Hospital with possible skull fracture and head lacerations. A hit-and-run vehicle was linked to the case. the driver, James Jones of Bridgeton New Jersey, 26, was held after police checked with New Jersey authorities. he was fined 100 dollars and jailed 30 days.
Funeral services for James Oliver Wright 64 of Preston were held at his home with Rev. H H Schauer and Rev. Howard Link officiating. Burial with Masonic rites was in Linchester Cemetery. Wright died in Memorial Hospital Easton from a heart attack after a brief illness. He had worked 19 years with Noble Motor Company of Easton and belonged to Lions Club Business Men's Association and Masonic Order. Survived by wife, one daughter in Honolulu, one son in Winston Salem, two grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs Philipine Roth died Thursday June 29 after a brief illness at Milford General Hospital. The notice continues on page 10.
