Bank branch plans for Federalsburg eyed by Denton bank

Former stockholders of the closed First National Bank at Federalsburg learned that a Denton bank with an upper county branch planned to open in the town. Negotiations were opened with Alonzo Twesdale, Federal receiver, for the building and fixtures. Depositors who had received a 60 percent dividend hoped for a second dividend soon. Thomas Holt, former president, said Denton bank officials had been told by State Bank Commissioner Page that permission to proceed was denied, with reasons undisclosed.

Mrs Justina D Cooper dies after long illness in Kent County

Mrs Justina D Cooper 76 daughter of the late James and Ruth Ann Downham of Kent County Del died Monday morning at the home of her daughter Mrs Whiteley Dill where she had lived three years. Survived by three children Mary Fry Alice Cooper and Charles Cooper sixteen grandchildren two great grandchildren two brothers and a sister. Community quilting party and club meeting plans

An old fashioned quilting party is planned soon with a February meeting showing meat cooking demonstrations. Miss Spafford will attend and all women in the community are invited. The Liden's Community Club February 9 meeting decided the clubhouse remains open for social entertainments on the second and fourth Wednesdays until further notice. The all day meeting was enjoyed and a motion was carried to hold all regular meetings of that nature through the April meeting.
